THE BAROT VALLEY


You all might've heard of Kangra Valley, Solang Valley and Parvati Valley in Himachal Pradesh but I'm sure many of you are listening about this Valley for the first time, The barot Valley. Barot Valley is located in Himachal Pradesh, it is 45Km away from JoginderNagar and 60Km from Mandi. Barot village was developed for Shanan Hydel Project in 1920s. 


How to reach Barot Valley ?

Barot Valley is easily accessible from many major cities like Delhi and Chandigarh through all mode of transportation. You can drive up to here by your own vehicle, roads are pretty tricky here so some prior experience will be very helpful. The nearest Railway station is JoginderNagar Railway station here and Kullu Airport is the nearest Airport.


Best time to visit Barot Valley ?

The best time to visit Barot Valley in summer is between April - June And in Winters November - February.  In summer the temperature here may vary to 16° and in Winters 5° on an average. Temperature stays very moderate here.


What are the best things to do and places to visit in Barot Valley ?

1. Visit Uhl River







Uhl River is one of the main attraction in barot valley, this river originates from Thamsar glacier in the dhauladhar ranges of the Himalayas and flow through the bada gran and barot.


2. Visit Nargu Wildlife Sanctuary









Nargu wildlife sanctuary is situated on the bank of Uhl river. You can find animals like Himalayan black bear, Musk dear, pheasants and ghoral here.


3. Trek to Kothi









It is a 13km trek through cedar and pine forests with such serene surrounding that the travelers keep coming back for more


5. Nature Camping at Thandi Golai







This camping site at Thandi Golai is a popular one, situated 1.5Km away from the main market of barot. it is one of the most undisturbed place where you feel like you're literally resting in the laps of nature.


5. Do Trout fishing







Trout fishing is an activity most people here indulge in. you have to take prior permission from the trout farm office before you can participate.

You can get many budget friendly hotels and homestays around here but first get your booking confirmed before arriving here. Because now a days many tourist have found this gem so you might not get place to stay.


The ideal duration for staying in Barot Valley is 3-4 days. It can be your perfect weekend getaway and you might not want to leave this valley from your Himachal tour itinerary
